enhance knowledge and fun, basic understanding of the Laws of the Game and information about the care and prevention of injuries.  There is no testing in the State Diploma course.

 

 

NSCAA Regional Diploma: The Regional Diploma course is a 13-hour course designed for the coach working with players 11-18 years of age.  An emphasis is placed on learning to work with the developing player within both an individual and team concept.

 

The Regional Diploma curriculum outlines how technical and tactical concepts can be applied in the development of players.  The focus is placed on the basic methods of coaching, teaching proper technique, the theory and application of offensive and defensive tactics and understanding team management.  There is no testing in the Regional Diploma course.  All candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application.  If a candidate is under 18 years of age, an adult must accompany him/her for the duration of the course.

 

 

Course Clinicians:

 

Arron Lujan (Kiowa): Arron is the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Princeton University.  He was an All-American at Colorado College and also played professionally before beginning his career in coaching college soccer.  He holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “A” coaching license and is co-chair of the Native American Soccer Coaches Committee.

 

Lance Noble (Choctaw): Lance has extensive college coaching experience at various Texas universities and also played and coached professionally.  He holds a USSF “A” license and NSCAA Advanced National License.

On May 5th and 6th SYS hosted two Native Soccer Coaches Clinics at the Native American Community Academy in Albuquerque. 11 coaches participated in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) State Diploma course and nine coaches participated in the NSCAA Regional Diploma course.  Both courses were sponsored

by the Native American Soccer Coaches Committee (NASCC), a subcommittee of the NSCAA.  Both clinics were conducted by coach Lance Noble (Choctaw), a founding member of the NASCC.  Noble was assisted by Arron Lujan (Kiowa), the assistant Men’s Soccer coach at Princeton University.

 

 

Courses:

 

NSCAA State Diploma: The State Diploma course is a five-hour course directed toward those newly involved in coaching soccer.  This course is designed to help coaches working with players in the 5-10 year-old age range.  Special emphasis is placed on understanding the physiological and psychological differences at play when coaching children.
