Southwest Youth Services

Soccer for healthy children, youth, and communities.

SYS Programs

Overall Mission: To provide positive youth development programming through educational, health & wellness and youth leadership components in partnership with American Indian communities and organizations.

The Benefits of Youth Soccer: Modeled on the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) ‘games approach,’ the SYS soccer curriculum improves and increases muscular and cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and agility, teambuilding skills, cognitive thinking, leadership skills and soccer skills, techniques and tactics.

Native H.O.P.E.: In partnership with SYS, board member Clayton Small conducts community and youth leadership trainings guided by the Native H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Endure) curriculum.  Native H.O.P.E. is a ‘strengths’ based interactive approach to wellness and leadership that incorporates Native culture, ceremony, traditions, healing and humor.

Soccer Mission: To partner with American Indian communities and organizations to grow youth soccer

programs promoting health & wellness, youth leadership, and life skills.
